Meet Our Firm
Originally founded in 1979, our firm has grown and prospered thanks to the example set by our founding members, including the late Gary Robinson. Mr. Robinson was trial counsel in most important ethics case ever taken up by the United State Supreme Court, Nix v. Whiteside, which is now required law school reading. He worked diligently to ensure that our firm gained the air of professionalism and high standards that we still adhere to today.
In addition to working side by side with attorney Gary Robinson, another founding partner, Philip Klinger, has been practicing law since 1968. His 40 years of experience in real estate, commercial law and estate planning and administration allow him to address even the most complicated of cases. As a native of Cedar Rapids, from Czech Town, and a former Assistant Linn County attorney, Mr. Klinger possesses a detailed knowledge of area courts, judges and local attorneys.
Partner Steve Swift has devoted his career to providing aggressive state and federal criminal defense representation to clients facing misdemeanor or felony charges. Admitted to practice law in Iowa state court as well as the Northern and Southern Federal District Courts of Iowa, Mr. Swift works to protect your future from the harm a criminal charge or conviction can carry.
Partner Jonathan Hammond leverages more than 25 years of criminal defense experience, providing criminal defense representation to clients in Iowa state and federal court, including the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Hammond was formerly a prosecutor with the Linn County Attorney's Office, and has been appointed by the court as a Special Prosecutor in Linn County, Jones County and Benton County, providing him with a thorough understanding of how local prosecutors handle various criminal charges.
With more than 20 years of bankruptcy related experience, partner Jeff Taylor helps clients find relief from the burdens of overwhelming debt. Mr. Taylor is an honors graduate in finance and accounting, and a high honors graduate from the University of Iowa College of Law. He was the movant in the largest involuntary bankruptcy in Iowa, the Walterman Implement bankruptcy. In his spare time, he enjoys tractor pulling competitions.
